Overview

Puhinui Park uses shared rubbish and recycling collection areas located throughout the development. Using the correct bins and disposing of waste properly helps keep the neighbourhood clean and supports reliable collection for everyone.

Collection schedule

General rubbish

Monday, Wednesday & Friday

Recycling

Fortnightly on Tuesday

Using the shared bin areas

  • Use only the authorised shared rubbish and recycling bins or receptacles.
  • Place rubbish and recycling in the correct waste stream.
  • If your usual bin area is full, use another shared bin area within Puhinui Park.
  • Do not leave rubbish beside or around full shared bins.
  • Keep rubbish collection access clear so collection vehicles and contractors can reach the shared bin areas.

Wrong items can stop a collection

Because our bins are shared, incorrect rubbish or recycling can affect the whole bin area — not just one household.

If incorrect material is placed in a bin, the collection may be skipped or declined until the issue is remedied. A missed collection can leave the area full, place pressure on other bin areas and delay service for neighbours.

Recycling — what goes in

Use “Recycling made easy” as the detailed guide. Accepted recycling includes plastic containers numbered 1, 2 and 5; glass bottles and jars; steel, aluminium and tin cans; and paper and cardboard.

Full bin areas

Do not leave bags, boxes or other waste on the ground beside a full bin. Use another shared bin area within the development. This helps prevent overflow, pests, litter and collection problems and reduces the impact on neighbours.

Large household items and inorganic collections

Large household items must not be placed in or beside the shared rubbish areas. Use Auckland Council’s booked inorganic collection service for eligible items.

Having a rubbish or waste problem?

Where appropriate and safe, consider speaking respectfully with your neighbour first about a minor issue.

Repeated dumping, misuse of shared bins, persistent contamination or another ongoing issue affecting the development should be reported to the Committee. Include the location, date, relevant details and photographs where helpful.

Important things to know

  • Rubbish must be disposed of only into authorised bins or receptacles for removal by the relevant authority or contractors engaged by the Association.
  • Residential lots must not be allowed to accumulate unsightly rubbish or materials.
  • The Committee may require a Member to remedy a bylaw breach within a reasonable timeframe and may escalate repeated or deliberate breaches under the Constitution’s dispute process.
  • Where a breach causes the Association actual and reasonable costs, those costs may be recoverable from the responsible Member in accordance with the bylaws, Constitution and applicable law.
