Living at Puhinui Park
Pets
Understand the approval process and responsibilities for keeping a pet.
Overview
Prior written Committee approval is required before keeping a pet at Puhinui Park, except for recognised disability assist dogs. Because Puhinui Park is a higher-density development, pets are generally discouraged and requests are considered case by case.
Your responsibilities
- Keep approved pets appropriately contained and under control.
- Manage excessive noise or behaviour that may disturb neighbours.
- Clean up and dispose of pet waste responsibly.
- Comply with any conditions attached to the pet approval.
- Ensure the pet does not create an ongoing nuisance or safety risk.
What you need to do
- 1Submit a pet request before bringing or keeping a pet at the property.
- 2Provide information about the pet and how it will be managed, including containment arrangements.
- 3Wait for written Committee approval before keeping the pet at the property.
Having problems with a neighbour’s pet?
Where appropriate and safe, consider speaking with your neighbour first. They may not be aware of the issue, and a respectful conversation may resolve minor concerns.
If the issue continues, see Auckland Council’s guidance on dog-related problems and reporting options. View Auckland Council guidance.
If you make a complaint or report to Auckland Council, please also let the Puhinui Park Residents Association Committee know where the issue affects the development or involves ongoing or repeated behaviour. Urgent safety matters should be reported directly to the appropriate authority.
Important things to know
- • Approval is required before keeping an animal, except for recognised disability assist dogs.
- • Pet requests are considered case by case.
- • The Committee may apply reasonable conditions relating to matters such as containment, noise, waste disposal, registration, vaccination where relevant, and behaviour management.
- • Approval may only be withdrawn for repeated non-compliance with conditions or an ongoing nuisance or safety risk, after the member has had an opportunity to be heard under the Association’s dispute process.
